Teeth Whitening was started by ancient Egyptians 4000 years ago but thankfully the ingredients have progressed. For the past 20 years or so the tooth whitening market has progressed dramatically with sophisticated in-clinic treatments and home products. A common ingredient for home-whitening products is hydrogen peroxide or HP. This is not ideal as it can cause significant ( if temporary) sensitivity to the user if applied to a damaged tooth. Pearlys active ingredient product is sodium perborate or SP. This has been used for many years to whiten a damaged or dead tooth. They drill a small hole into the ‘dead’ tooth and sodium perborate is injected into the tooth. The tooth is then sealed and left for a few days before the sodium perborate is removed leaving a lovely white tooth. Pearlys is the safe and very effective way of whitening your teeth.
